Deadpool - Movie Review

You can probably guess what this review is going to be, and I am fully aware that the title already spoils it, but - oh nevermind, let's cut to it.

INTRODUCTION:
"Deadpool" (2016) is a movie directed by Tim Miller and stars Ryan Reynolds as the titular  role, Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano, T.J. Miller and Ed Skrein. This entire film is honestly one of the funniest films I've ever seen, and can be already said to be one of the best films of this year. The story is a standard superhero origin story, but what makes Deadpool so intriguing and different is because, mainly of its well written crude humour.

THE PLOT (according to IMDb):
This is the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

THE ACTING:
This movie was badass throughout. The opening credits alone were hilarious, and already completely captured the entire essence of what "Deadpool" really is. The acting was very solid, particularly from Ed Skrein who plays the villain Ajax who does an exceptional job in depicting an insane yet creepy villain. Personally my favourite characters in this film are Colossus and the Negasonic Teenage Warhead. Completely likeable and hilarious in their own way, both of them contradict and gives contrast to the character of Deadpool which makes them equally likable as Deadpool himself. Every other character made a great addition to making the film what it is, and honestly, there's not a single person who gave a particularly dull performance.

RYAN REYNOLDS AS (CAPTAIN) DEADPOOL / WADE WILSON:
Ryan Reynolds was made to play Wade Wilson. His witty humour, crude jokes and hilarious fourth-wall breaks throughout the movie are the main reasons why this movie shines. Reynolds steals the show every time he's on screen and he always makes particularly "talkative" or "supposedly boring scenes" into funny and entertaining ones which always leaves the audience cracking out loud. The post-credits scenes were, as always, were epic, just like the film itself. Personally, and this could be said for any well-written character, but I can never see any other actor portraying Deadpool except for Ryan Reynolds.

THE DIRECTION AND CINEMATOGRAPHY:
Tim Miller, who makes his first full-length feature film debut with this movie, blows it out of the park. He directs the action scenes like how action scenes should be directed, with not too many over-the-top cuts which makes the audience just dizzy by watching them. The pacing was quick, and straight after the lovely opening credits scene, the viewer is immediately thrown right into the action.
The film wasted no time in getting the story told, and even though it's not told chronologically and frequently switches back and forth (which could easily turn confusing and bad), Deadpool pulls it off extremely well. Every scene is well shot - it not necessarily as pretty as "The Tree of Life" (2011), but it did a tremendous job in not being too repetitive and for being a wonderful addition to the Marvel Film Family.

THE SCREENPLAY:
Possibly the best thing to ever be in this film, the screenplay holds the entire film together. I didn't know much about Deadpool's origin story and who he is, but this definitely captures the character of "Mr. Pool".
Everyone (who have or will be) seeing this would definitely leave the cinema laughing in tears. It's cleverly written, and much care was put into it to capture the characteristics of Deadpool and every other person featured. Nothing more can be said, to be honest; this script was written to perfection.

THE CONCLUSION:
This movie broke multiple records among its release and shocked critics and audiences everywhere around the world. I thoroughly enjoyed it a lot, and would definitely recommend it to everyone who hasn't seen it yet. Even with all the praise I've given it, Deadpool is still a standard Superhero origin movie. The story isn't that interesting, and is pretty simple, but the reason why it's so special and different is because of Ryan Reynolds' performance (with the contribution of others) and the screenplay. Despite the negatives, Deadpool is no ordinary Marvel movie. It's really f**king awesome.
No really, it is.

I give "Deadpool" a 8.5/10.
